Omar & Brianne | Engaged

Omar and Brianne are the first two friends J and I met here in Chicagoland. Omar actually went to school up in Minneapolis with my husband and they were both hired at the FAA center here in Aurora. Omar spends his days making sure planes don’t crash into each other (thanks for that!), while Brianne is spending hers teaching little kiddos.

These two are high school sweethearts! Last summer, Omar decided to pop the big question during a fun-filled weekend of Chicago activities that included the Air and Water Show, shopping and a nice dinner , and a proposal at the top of the Willis Sears Tower.

I was honored when they asked me to take some engagement photos for them. We had to reschedule AT LEAST three times. The first because of below zero temperatures (yuck) and a snow storm. The second because not one of us had our Christmas shopping done. And I think the third was because of the Vikings vs. Bears game (that was a painful game to watch…I think  J and I were about 2 of 4 people wearing our purple and gold proudly in a sea of blue and orange!)

So our final attempt at photos was great! It was a few days after Chicagoland was covered in 2 feet of snow. We did the shoot in downtown Geneva. I’ve visited this area a few times before and it is chalk full of old charming brick buildings and brightly colored store fronts. They were such good sports – it was cold and they didn’t wear jackets the whole time. Neither one of them is the snuggly-kissy-in-public type, but they did it for me! Mother Nature even provided us with some big fluffy snowflakes at the end of the shoot…which also ended it a little early because cameras and water just don’t mix.

To Omar and Brianne – thank you so very much for letting me take these photos for you. I hope you are as happy with the way turned out as I am! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you two while living here and look forward to celebrating your big day with you and everything that comes afterward!!

And baby will make four :)

These next few photos are of a maternity session I did about a month ago of an old co-worker. Daiva was 8 months pregnant at the time of the photos and has since welcomed a sweet baby girl into the world. We were originally going to do these photos outside, but not only was it a little chilly outside, Mother Nature had also decided to dump two feet of snow on Chicagoland two days before the shoot! We re-located to Daiva’s house and I was pleasantly surprised with the lighting situation I walked into!

I started out with some shots of Daiva in her living room. The colors were soft, yet bright. There was nice lighting for being indoors at noon. And the mother-to-be (for the second time!) was just glowing.

I was also able to get some photos of Daiva and her little boy after he was done with pre-school. He was so cute! He wanted all of his toys to be in the photos, and he also kept telling me I could only take 5 more photos and then I had to be done haha! I was able to catch some pretty sweet moments between the two of them.

Congratulations on your growing family, Daiva! Thank you for letting me come over to capture some moments of your life for a few hours. I hope I get to meet the little one soon!
