amber & grey | engaged | minneapolis minnesota engagement photographer

this is grey. i went to college with grey back in my interior design days, and he was always one of my favorite people to have class with. a great eye for design, a witty sense of humor, and always the best dressed. and this is amber. i met her for the first time at this shoot, but she was so sweet, also impeccably dressed, and a great compliment to grey’s personality. as she said, their personalities are the perfect balance of art/design and science (he’s an interior designer/graphic designer. she is a nurse). shortly after college he and amber met on a fun night out with friends – now they have a house, a dog named milton and a cat named jorja.
i hadn’t heard from grey much since college, just a few facebook messages and posts here and there. i was ecstatic when he contacted me to possibly photograph their wedding. it’s going to be a small, intimate affair at a very unique venue in minneapolis called warehouse winery. the venue is a mixture of industrial (think exposed brick and stainless steel) and eclectic and antique looking pieces (think elephant skulls, wine barrels, and furniture). oh, and their wedding date is 12.31.2012….metalics, neutrals, and sparklers! can’t wait:)
their engagement shoot was beyond fun and filled with sooooo many different locations and backgrounds! grey was awesome because the shoot ended up lasting about 5 hours and normally guys are done after about 1 :/ …that doesn’t usually happen but between visiting the venue and shooting locations, as well as catching up with an old friend and getting to know his lovely fiancé, those hours just added right up!! thank you so much for such a great afternoon, you two! i can’t wait for your wedding day and to see all the amazing details and personal touches you add to it to make it your own!

macy | senior 2014 | holmen, wi senior photographer

this was a first for me – a high school senior shoot. i’ve done plenty of engagement sessions and weddings. i’ve photographed the tiny kiddos and the families. so it was fun to try something new! this is the gorgeous macy! her mom and i are in a business group together, so of course i couldn’t wait for this shoot once she had asked me to do it…and WAIT we did. we had to re-schedule three times! it doesn’t rain in wisconsin all summer long and the one day out of a week we could match our schedules up, it pours all. day. long. i think the wait was worth it though – we found some pretty outdoor areas with some late fall color and pretended like it was 80 degrees out!
macy – you did such a great job! thanks so much for trekking up those hills, crawling through fences, and shivering for two solid hours for me:) i hope you and your mom are as happy as i am with the images!

angelica & connor | expecting | la crosse, wisconsin portrait photographer | minneapolis, minnesota portrait photographer

Every year, some of my good friends work very hard to help put on the Eric Applen Golf Tournament. All funds raised for the tournament go directly to families with children who are battling cancer to help pay for the little, everyday expenses. I was honored when they asked me to get involved and offer a couple of portrait sessions for a silent auction.

This lovely couple won one of the sessions. Angelica and Connor are expecting their very first baby, a sweet little girl, at the end of September. We did the shoot at Centennial Lakes in Edina, MN. Angelica was absolutely glowing and it was so sweet to watch Connor take care of her as he helped her get up from benches or stairs. I’m used to photographing weddings where there’s this excitement and love everywhere about beginning a new life together. Watching an expecting couple has the same kind of excitement, but it’s more about continuing a life they’ve already begun. It makes me smile:)

To the soon-to-be parents, it was great to meet you both. I’m very happy for you and can’t wait to see that beautiful baby girl when she gets here! Take care and rest up until then!
